The CEO of a northern aviation company says the success of his business rests upon the success of northern Saskatchewan.
The Transwest Group of Companies officially unveiled their new business plan this afternoon at the Prince Albert airport. The new plan will bring the companies of Transwest Air, Northern Shield Helicopters, Snowbird Petroleum, Avalerion Corp and Plane Perfection under one new banner.
CEO Garrett Lawless says a part of the new model will bring more community development to northern Saskatchewan. He says because the north is so vital to their operation they plan on giving back.
“We are actually going to sit down and plan how much money we can put toward community development and where is this money going to go. The areas we have come up with are health fitness and education,” said Lawless.
Lawless also shared a story of a veteran of the Canadian Military and current member of the Saskatoon Police Service.
“He is going to the north and starting all these fitness programs to get people fit and interested in fitness and we are looking at other types of programs llike this to have the same types of impact.”
Transwest Air was originally formed in 2000 by a merger between Air Sask and Athabasca Airways.
