A drug and alcohol addictions strategy meeting was held Friday in La Ronge.

Harold Johnson is one of three people working on a northern alcohol strategy for La Ronge, Air Ronge, Lac La Ronge Indian Band and Montreal Lake Cree Nation.

Johnson says the first phase of the project is to identify what needs to be done.

The original plan was to hold community meetings to identify a strategy to deal with the problem of addictions, but that has now changed.

Part of Friday afternoon’s sessions was to discuss a plan of action going forward, and set a date for the next strategy meeting.

In his work as a Crown Prosecutor, Johnson has said 95 per cent of the people he would deal with had drug and alcohol addictions issues in their lives.
