A man has died under what are said to be suspicious circumstances at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre.

The 49-year-old man was taken into remand at the centre earlier this month for outstanding criminal warrants.

Police say he went into medical distress on July 5 and died in hospital in Saskatoon a few days later.

According to authorities, an autopsy was performed on July 12 where the death was deemed suspicious.

Few other details were released on how the man died, other than his death is being considered supicious.

The RCMP and The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Office are currently investigating the man’s death.
