Police stated that on July 8, Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a shooting on the First Nation. When officers arrived, they began patrolling for the suspects, but to no avail.

An investigation determined that two individuals approached a group of individuals who were walking in the community. An altercation occurred between them, and a firearm was discharged, striking a man. He was treated at a hospital for injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

Mounties say that on July 14, they obtained a warrant to enter a residence on the First Nation, resulting in 19-year-old Thoren Daniels and 24-year-old Jayden Sutherland being arrested without incident. Officers also located and seized a semi-automatic firearm, ammunition, and bear spray at the residence.

The two men each face the following charges:

One count, assault with a weapon.

One count: discharge a firearm while being reckless.

One count: use a firearm in the commission of an offense.

One count, careless use of a firearm.

One count, unsafe storage of a firearm.

One count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In addition, Daniels also faces one count of failing to comply with a probation order and four counts of weapons possession contrary to order.

They made their first court appearance today in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
