Financing Still Not Secured for P.A. Fish Plant

The next few weeks could prove to be the crucial test for organizers of a proposed fish processing plant in Prince Albert, as they attempt to lure big financial backers into the plan.
Under the projected timeline organizers laid out a few months ago, financial arrangements were to have been finalized by the end of June — but it did leave until the end of September for the completion of plans and the purchasing of any land.
The treasurer for Saskatchewan Co-operative Fisheries, Merle Hewison says construction can begin after that is completed – and then they can hammer out operating details with the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation.
Hewison says the project is still on firm ground and it is only a matter of time until fishermen begin sending their catch to Prince Albert rather than Winnipeg.
