A spokesperson for SaskCulture says the recently announced federal funding cuts take away from Saskatchewan First Nations and Metis cultural programs and heritage exhibits.

Diane Ell says all programs, museums, galleries, and exhibits will no longer get the needed funding from SaskCulture to provide cultural components to communities across the province.

Ell says First Nations and Metis museums, displays and exhibits — including the Allen Sapp Gallery and the Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Center — will be affected by this cut.

Ell notes the federal government cut $4.6 million from the Canadian Museum Association, leaving the fund at roughly $3 million for the entire country.
