An Aboriginal storyteller says people can regain their culture and identity through storytelling.

Don Speidel also says non-Aboriginal people can gain an awareness of that culture through listening to those stories.

Speidel is the cultural resource liaison for the Saskatoon Public School Division, and was storytelling yesterday as part of Aboriginal Storytelling Month.

He says the stories are meant to teach people something.

Speidel encourages First Nations, and non-First Nations, people to seek out storytellers to regain a sense of purpose and gain an understanding of a different way of life.
