ACTC Renews Forestry Agreement With Province

The Agency Chiefs Tribal Council has renewed a wood supply agreement with Saskatchewan Environment for 2.3 million hectares of forested land north and west of Prince Albert.
The original agreement was signed four years ago and provided the tribal council with access to a portion of the available fire salvage on part of Weyerhaeuser’s Prince Albert Forest Management Area.
Since that time, the ACTC has become a large logging contractor, and has established a sawmill and a ready-to-move home construction company.
The government says the agreement and a recently-completed inventory for the area move the ACTC another step forward toward a long-term timber supply.
The new agreement is for five years.
