A precautionary boil water order on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation has been lifted.

The move was made this morning after local officials determined that problems with the water distribution system had been corrected.

The boil water order was put in place six days ago after mechanical problems surfaced at the reserve’s water treatment plant.

At the time, local officials said they couldn’t guarantee the safety of the drinking water supply.

Chief Larry Ahenakew says, to his knowledge, the situation didn’t cause anyone to become sick.

Ahenakew is also pleased with how the band’s waterworks operators responded to the situation.

Ahenakew says the word spread very quickly on the reserve when the problems first surfaced.
