At least four provincial premiers, two territorial leaders and five American governors are expected to attend this week’s National Day of Action demonstration at the Prince Albert Grand Council.

A statement by the First Nations organization says Premier Brad Wall and other leaders will be on the urban reserve at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The premiers and governors will be in the city later this week for the Western Premiers’ Conference.

Aboriginal leaders say the focus of the day will be child poverty and the lack of funding for First Nations education and child welfare services.

First Nations from across the country are expected to hold similar demonstrations to voice their frustration over various issues affecting their people.

PAGC spokesman Johnny Walker says they want to get their point across in a meaningful way to the politicians.

British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell, Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach and Manitoba’s Gary Doer have all confirmed their attendance with the province.
