Saskatchewan’s Northern Affairs minister is giving his NDP government a rating of “7 out of 10” for what it accomplished for northerners in the most recent session of the provincial legislature.

The session came to a close this morning.

Buckley Belanger says there’s no question the North will benefit greatly from the government’s recently-announced $65.5-million northern roads strategy.

Belanger also believes northern residents will benefit from the home heating relief plan, and legislation dealing with gangs and missing persons.

Still, Belanger says he can’t give this session his highest marks, because other northern concerns still need to be addressed.

Having said that, Belanger feels his government’s efforts over the last six weeks have not gone unnoticed by northerners.
