Canoe Lake Residents Choose Trustees Today

The Canoe Lake First Nation is holding voting today to elect band members that will be entrusted with overseeing the band’s multi-million-dollar trust funds.

From now on, a single set of trustees will administer the money in both the band’s Treaty Land Entitlement trust account and the Primrose Lake Air Weapons Range trust account.

Previously, each account had its own trustees.

A total of 22 band members are running for the five available trustee positions.

Another trustee will be appointed by the new band council, which gets voted in tomorrow.
