Charges have been laid against a 59-year-old La Loche man in connection to a 15-month-long investigation into financial irregularities at the La Loche liquor store.

The unidentified suspect was employed by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority at the time of the alleged offences, and was fired soon after the allegations came to light.

When the government first announced news of the investigation last year, it said the financial irregularities totalled $227,000.

The suspect has been charged with one count of theft over $5,000.

His name won’t be released until he makes his first court appearance in La Loche on December 18th.
