The province’s top pathologist took the stand yesterday in the trial of a man accused of beating a Sturgeon Lake band member in 2006.

Dr. Shaun Ladham testified the injuries sustained by 28-year-old Leslie Longjohn were consistent with blunt force trauma.

He said she was struck multiple times in the head, causing numerous breaks and fractures.

As well, he noted damage to her hand that was consistent with classic defensive wounds.

The man accused of beating her, 39-year-old Rick Ermine, sat quietly in the prisoner’s box with his head down.

His defence lawyer hasn’t argued about the way Longjohn died.
