Crown prosecutors have decided to appeal the sentences handed to three former leaders at the Saulteaux First Nation who misspent millions of dollars of band TLE money.
Former chief Gabe Gopher, former councillor Mervin Night and former TLE trustee Archie Moccasin were recently convicted of breach of trust for pocketing $1 million of TLE funds.
Court also heard they directed $1.8 million more to friends and relatives.
They were each sentenced to two years of house arrest and 240 hours of community service.
They were also each ordered to repay thousands of dollars if they ever found work again.
