Crown Clarifies Montgrand Parole Eligibility

A northern man sentenced to life in prison for the killing of his wife earlier this year could receive parole by 2013.
53-year-old Paul Montgrand was originally charged with second-degree murder for taking the life of Carol Riviere.
However, he ended up pleading guilty to manslaughter last month in court.
A prosecutor in Meadow Lake says seven years is the amount of time a person convicted of manslaughter usually has to wait before parole eligibility kicks in.
Montgrand will be able to apply from the date he was taken into custody — which, in this case, was February 4th.
