Derocher Re-Elected By Acclamation In Flying Dust

Members of the Flying Dust First Nation head to the polls next month, but there’s not much drama in the race for chief.

According to the chief electoral officer, incumbent leader Percy Derocher is the only person letting his name stand for the top job.

However, nine band members will fight it out for four councillor jobs.

Canoe Lake and Waterhen Lake are also holding elections next month.

Candidates running in those contests have yet to be finalized.

The Waterhen Lake election is set for December 12th, while the Canoe Lake vote is set for December 18th.

Flying Dust band members vote on December 4th.
