Clients of what was once Metis Employment and Training of Saskatchewan Incorporated (METSI) will have a new service provider in the New Year.

The federal agency in charge of the file, Service Canada, says it is very close to naming a full-time provider of the service.

Earlier this year, the role was stripped from the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan due to legal concerns.

It was then temporarily given to the provincial government’s Advanced Education and Employment department.

But Service Canada spokeswoman Adelle Crocker says that has to change, because her group wants an Aboriginal organization to oversee things.

The interim agreement with the provincial department runs out on January 31st.
