Aboriginal writers are being celebrated in Saskatoon this week.
The 4th Annual Anskohk Aboriginal Literature Festival is being put on by the Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company.
SNTC general manager Donna Heimbecker says the festival celebrates the achievements of Aboriginal writers from across Canada.
But Heimbecker says the primary purpose of the event is to bring them some exposure.
The book awards will be handed out Friday evening for books of the year in the categories of fiction, poetry and children’s literature.
McNally Robinson Booksellers is also giving an award for Aboriginal Book of the Year.
The other activities around the city this week include workshops, video screenings, book launches and coffee houses.
