First Nations Leader Running For FSIN Vice-Chief

A prominent band member from the Keeseekoose First Nation has tossed his hat into the ring for the upcoming Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations election.
Ted Quewezance is a former Chief of Staff at the federation, as well as a tribal representative for Yorkton.
He says he thinks the FSIN’s mandate should be to advocate for first nations communities, protect treaty rights and deal with the aftermath of the residential school experience.
One thing he would like to see the FSIN do is work harder at enforcing treaties, not just talking about them.
Quewezance is running for the Office of Fourth Vice-chief, a position held up till now by Lawrence Joseph. However, with Joseph running for the position of Grand Chief his old job now lies open.
The deadline to file papers expires today.
