FNUC President Tries To

The president of the First Nations University of Canada took the unusual step today of issuing a memo to all staff and students about the latest controversy at the school.
Last week, the school’s chief financial officer left the university.
It is unclear if he was fired or if his leaving was a mutually agreed upon decision, as FNUC president Charles Pratt has said.
In his memo, Pratt wrote that he hadn’t planned on issuing a notice about Murray Westerlund leaving, but now felt he had to, because it has generated so much media attention and concern among students and staff.
Pratt wrote that “misinformation” spread quickly to the government, but says he has since given the Minister of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour the “correct, factual information” regarding Westerlund’s departure.
Pratt assures staff and students that government funding is still expected, and concludes the integrity of the university needs to be safeguarded.
