Funding from Canada Health Infoway is going to help alleviate the cost of travelling great distances for First Nations people to access healthcare.
This week, the Assembly of First Nations praised Infoway for 100% funding any First Nations tele-health projects done in conjunction with a province or territory.
Eugene Nicholas has been working on this project for the AFN. He says tele-health allows First Nations people who live in remote communities a less expensive way to access treatment because they don’t have to leave their families and travel great distances, which can be expensive.
Nicholas says it also helps a patient’s morale when they can stay near their families while undergoing treatment.
