An official with the Saskatchewan government is confirming a transfer of gaming money is being withheld from the Battlefords Tribal Council.

Nora Sanders, the deputy minister of First Nations and Metis Relations, says the action was prompted by the fact several First Nations have left the tribal council in recent months.

Sanders isn’t sure how the matter will be resolved, but says talks are planned with the FSIN.

She adds individuals bands who have broken away from the BTC are still eligible for funding.

According to Sanders, all they have to do is consult with their local community development corporation.
