Harrison Says Barb From NDP Taken Out Of Context

Jeremy Harrison says the NDP mistakenly took one of his quotes out of context when they attacked him earlier this week.

NDP MLA Sandra Morin quoted remarks the Saskatchewan Party MLA made to a newspaper about not knowing if emissions targets had been set.

Morin was concerned the province’s junior cabinet minister in charge of oilsands development didn’t know his own government’s targets.

But Harrison says Morin didn’t realize the question he was answering regarded federal greenhouse gas reduction targets — not provincial ones.

However, Harrison is using the opportunity to ask questions about the NDP’s policy on oilsands development.

He says federal NDP leader Jack Layton has stated that the oilsands should be shut down completely –- and Harrison wonders if that’s the provincial NDP’s position.
