Heavy Snow Hits Highway 2

The corridor between La Ronge and Prince Albert appears to be the northern region that’s seen the most snow in the last day or so.

It’s part of the same system that’s dumped between 20 and 25 cm of snow in and around Saskatoon and Prince Albert in the last 24 hours.

Environment Canada’s Bob Cormier says while the North didn’t see quite that much snow, there has been heavy precipitation between Prince Albert and La Ronge — 18 cm fell between Waskesiu and P.A., while La Ronge has seen 12 cm of snow.

The forecast calls for another 2 to 4 cm to fall in La Ronge today.

Cormier notes La Ronge has certainly seen more than its share of snow in the last month or so. He says the community received over 33 cm in February — more than double the amount La Ronge has historically received in that month.
