Kudos Given To Northern Elections Officials

Elections Canada officials are pleased with the way elections officers in northern Saskatchewan handled a power outage Monday night.
The lights were out for about three-and-a-half hours in a large chunk of northeast Saskatchewan, and only came back on just as the polls were closing.
Elections Canada spokesman Roger Francis says chief electoral officer Anne Hryniuk and her staff did a great job of making sure all the polls stayed open, an assertion that has been challenged by the NDP’s Anita Jackson.
Francis also says he’s confident the security of the ballot boxes wasn’t breached during the blackout, noting a number of security measures were still in place.
