Churchill River MP Rick Laliberte will be holding a news conference tomorrow afternoon in Ottawa.

A spokesperson in his Ottawa office says he will be addressing the matter of his travel spending at tomorrow’s media gathering, which will take place at noon Saskatchewan time.

Laliberte has come under fire for racking up 310-thousand dollars in travel claims last year — the most of any MP.

The Canadian Alliance has been demanding he publicly disclose details of his spending. The Alliance has also attacked his attendance record in the House of Commons and in his committee work.

Just last week, the president of the Liberals’ constituency association in Churchill River, Roy Head, said it was time for another person to represent the Liberals in Northern Saskatchewan.

Head says the controversy surrounding Laliberte dominated discussion at a meeting of the riding association’s executive in Prince Albert over the weekend.

Head says Liberal members in the riding will nominate a candidate for the next federal election on February 21st.

Head reports that two people have expressed interest in running against Laliberte for the nomination, but is refusing to identify them.
