The family of a missing woman from Onion Lake today began what they are calling their final awareness walk over her disappearance.
For the last four years, the Muskego family from the Onion Lake First Nation has dedicated a 350-kilometre walk from Onion Lake to Saskatoon to their missing daughter Daleen Bosse Muskego.
She was last seen in Saskatoon on May 18th, 2004.
Her father, Herb Muskego, says they “do things in four”, according to their cultural protocols.
However, he says they will continue to raise awareness of missing women through other activities, and will continue their efforts to find their daughter.
This year’s trek will culminate on Friday with events at Saskatoon City Hall and the University of Saskatchewan.
Muskego says he, his wife and their supporters want to remember all the missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada.
There are more than 500 missing Aboriginal women in this country.
