Liberals Asked for Position on Metis Election

The Conservatives continue to press the federal government about its stance in the Metis election dispute in Saskatchewan.
Saskatoon-Wanuskewin Member of Parliament Maurice Vellacott brought up the matter again yesterday in the House of Commons.
Vellacott drew a parallel between the Metis election controversy and the ongoing election crisis in the Ukraine.
Vellacott says while Ottawa has been quick to condemn what took place in that country, it hasn’t taken a hard line against the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan.
All federal departments have frozen funding that would normally go to the MNS.
A spokesman for Metis interlocutor Andy Scott says a new election seems to be the only way to resolve the current impasse.
