Metis Youth In Saskatoon For National Gathering

Metis youth from across Canada are in Saskatoon today for the opening day of the 9th Annual National Metis Youth Conference.

The theme for the three-day event is “Building Bridges Through Cultural Awareness”.

Metis National Youth Advisory Council spokesperson Jennifer Brown says organizers want to spark greater pride in Metis youth.

Some of the topics that will be covered in the conference workshops include Metis history, Aboriginal rights, leadership development and starting a business.

Tomorrow night, nine Metis youth will be honoured with awards at a Metis youth role model banquet.

A Metis Idol competition goes tonight.

The conference is taking place at the Bessborough Hotel.
