The federal and provincial governments announced 23 million dollars in funding for infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan yesterday — including 4.2 million dollars for sewer and water upgrades in northern Saskatchewan.
A water treatment plant upgrade in La Loche is receiving the most funding. The two levels of government are committing 600-thousand dollars to the project this year, and an additional 200-thousand next year.
A total of 13 northern municipalities are receiving funding for sewer and water upgrades this year.
Other northern communities receiving money from yesterday’s announcement include Ile-a-la-Crosse, Buffalo Narrows, La Ronge and Sandy Bay.
