A 21-year-old suspect in a fatal stabbing on Big Island Lake Cree Nation has been charged with second-degree murder.
Lynette Sandfly is making her first court appearance today in Meadow Lake.
Sandfly was arrested following the death of 22-year-old Edwin Terrance Dufraine early yesterday morning.
The RCMP say they were called to a reserve residence at around 1:30 am, at which point they found the victim.
An officer performed CPR on Dufraine and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Cold Lake, Alberta — but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Big Island Lake Cree Nation, formerly known as the Joseph Bighead First Nation, is a community of about 500 people. The reserve is situated northeast of Pierceland, approximately 110 km north of Lloydminster.
