The province has announced it is giving $1.6 million to the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies for more training opportunities.
The money should allow for the creation of 80 new spaces in adult basic education and 35 more in skills training.
This investment marks the first time the Saskatchewan government has provided money for training opportunities on reserves.
FSIN Chief Lawrence Joseph says its welcome news.
Joseph adds the move could open the door for more partnerships with the NDP government in what has traditionally been federal jurisdiction.
