New Legislation Could See More Prisoners In Jail

There could soon be a lot more people in jail in the province according to a Saskatchewan politician.
Kevin Yates, the Minister of Corrections and Public Safety, says the province could see hundreds of more people locked up each week, if tough new legislation is handed down from the Federal Government.
Yates says the implications are huge, but opening up new jails to deal with the expected rise might be premature.
He says federal politicians could also change their mind so right now it’s a waiting game.
