Northern Census Forms Not Due Today

Contrary to the rest of the nation, rural communities don’t have to have their Census information finished and sent in today.
La Ronge Census coordinator Sandy Charles says Statistics Canada has given all rural and remote communities a deadline of June 27th.
Charles says for the community of La Ronge, enumerators will be going door to door to do Census interviews with every household individually beginning today and continuing until the June deadline.
She says anyone wanting more information on the La Ronge interviews can contact her at 425-2010.
Meanwhile, not all northern communities are gathering their Census information the same way.
The Northern Village of Air Ronge, Hall Lake, Sucker River, Grandmothers Bay, Missinipi and all outlining residential establishments in or around those areas will be receiving their Census packages within the next 2 to 3 weeks depending on their location, according to the area Census coordinator, Jenny Mcleod.
She says the residents will receive Census forms to fill out at their home and they will be responsible for sending in the information themselves.
She says the forms come with all the necessary information for residents and they are really easy to do and should only take a short time to complete.
Anyone needing information about their Census packages in those areas can contact her at 425-3754.
