The Northern Diabetes Prevention Coalition has expanded as a health promotion strategy in northern Saskatchewan.
It has now changed it’s name to the Northern Healthy Communities Partnership.
The medical officer of health for northern Saskatchewan, Dr. James Irvine, says the partnership will include promoting mental well-being and the prevention of substance abuse.
Dr. Irvine says by including these other health issues, there will be less overlap when it comes to improving the well-being of northerners.
Dr. Irvine says plans are underway for a northern heatlh conference next year to discuss the issue further.
