A community leader on the west-side says he’s glad to see forestry-initiatives moving ahead despite the loss of the Prince Albert pulp mill.

Ile a la Crosse Mayor Duane Favel says the development of a treated fence post plant in Beauval is a sign northern Saskatchewan is committed to utilizing its skilled labour pool.

He says it would be nice if the PA mill were to open, but they can’t just stand around and not do anything.

Favel adds he favours establishing ties with bigger companies wherever possible and he hopes to see other fence-post plants built in the future as well.
