Northern Municipalities Canvassed For Input

A provincial government director says northern Saskatchewan municipalities will be better equipped to shape and manage new developments once a review of the Planning and Development Act is complete.
Ralph Leibel says open houses held recently in Buffalo Narrows, La Loche, La Ronge and Creighton have all been aimed at gathering northern feedback over the issue.
He says his department will process the information over the summer so new legislation can be put in place this fall.
Leibel explains communities should have sharper and crisper guidelines to work with when something like a cottage development needs to be acted upon.
He adds the new act will enable communities to set policies for things like recreational needs and land use, as well.
