Northern Village Eyeing New Land

The mayor of Ile-a-la-Crosse says the wheels are in motion for the possible annexation of land near Beaver River and Sandy Point.

Max Morin says the community hopes to get the approval of the provincial government for the move, which would open up new lands for Ile-a-la-Crosse residents to purchase.

The idea was discussed at a public forum earlier this week where new ideas for community development and economic stimulus were touched on.

Morin says it only makes sense to put the plans in place right now so people are ready for the completion of the Fort McMurray road project when it happens.
