Northern Youth Council Conference Underway

Organizers of a Youth Town Council Leadership Conference in northern Saskatchewan are wondering where the politicians are.
Roughly 70 northern youths are in La Ronge for the next few days to learn leadership skills that can be used in youth town councils that are starting to crop up across the North.
They’re scheduled to get some pointers from northern mayors and other politicians.
Coordinator Charlene Bosiak says the conference is intended to teach kids the value of conflict resolution, team building and how to identify community strengths.
But New North Youth Leadership Coordinator Eric Gardiner says the number of mayors and aldermen that have shown up for the event has been less than inspiring.
Gardiner says 10 to 12 northern communities sent youth to this event — but so far he’s only seen mayors from three of them.
