Northern Youth Speak Out in Ottawa

About a dozen northern youth spent the last week talking with their peers about mental and physical health at a national youth conference in Ottawa.

The young people are from communities like Turnor Lake, Patuanak, La Loche and Waterhen Lake.

The conference was hosted by a group called the Students Commission of Canada.

Spokesman Rodney Laprise says the youth from the North were eager to share how alcholism and drug abuse in their communities have hurt their lives.

The conference wrapped up yesterday with an address to politicians.
