A 36-year-old resident of the Ochapowace First Nation was killed in a two-vehicle collision on the reserve Friday night.

Ryan Bruce Atatise was the driver of a vehicle that reportedly swerved into the path of an oncoming vehicle just before midnight.

The Broadview RCMP say the crash also injured the 45-year-old female driver of the other vehicle, who is also from Ochapowace.

According to an account given to the Mounties by the surviving driver, the two vehicles were approaching each other when — for some unknown reason — the deceased’s vehicle lost control and entered the path of the oncoming vehicle.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The surviving driver was transported to the Broadview Hospital and later transferred to Regina.

The extent of her injuries is unknown.

An autopsy on the deceased has been ordered by the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

Broadview RCMP are continuing their investigation.
