Metis people in the province can now learn more about North West Metis scrip on a new online archival database.
Saskatchewan Archives spokesman D’Arcy Hande says, for the first time ever, this information will be available online to anyone wanting to know more information about people who took part in the homestead process in Saskatchewan prior to 1930.
Hande says this information will help genealogists and researchers gain understanding of how Metis scrip became a commodity for intense speculation during the settlement period.
Hande says the information is organized for easy access.
The information database will officially launch tomorrow evening at www.saskhomesteads.com.
