The Saskatchewan Party is making its presence felt in a number of northern communities today.

Stony Rapids is hosting Environment critic Glen Hart and Northern Affairs critic Denis Allchurch, who are in the Far North to get residents’ feedback about the NDP’s forest fire policy. They’ll be in Black Lake tomorrow.

Both communities were evacuated last month after being threatened by a large forest fire.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Brad Wall is visiting two First Nations reserves among his stops today.

He was in Little Red this morning for a meeting with local band councillors, and is at the Big River First Nation this afternoon for a similar get-together with the band leadership there.

Yesterday, Wall held a private meeting with three Metis local presidents in Prince Albert.

Wall says the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan election situation took a back seat to discussion about programs and services.
