A family violence worker with the Prince Albert Grand Council says female band members should know there are services to help them if they’re being abused.
Corinne Fiddler says larger reserves like La Ronge, for example, have access to a safe shelter for battered women.
And, she says women in isolated communities can be flown down to Prince Albert for treatment — where they can also devise a plan to return to their reserves in a safer and more secure setting.
Fiddler was one of several outreach workers who attended a rally in Prince Albert yesterday where the subject of violence against women was brought to a head.
