Prices For Muskrat Fur Pelts At All-Time High

It appears muskrat pelts had a showing to remember at last week’s wild fur sale in Toronto.
An official with North American Fur Auctions says the average price for the pelt hovered around $9.50 Cdn, with a top price of $11.00.
Dave Bewick says those prices are definitely up from the last sale — in fact, they represent the highest prices ever fetched by muskrat pelts — and Bewick expects the trend to continue.
Fisher pelts also fetched record high prices.
Bewick says the appetite for fur from countries like Greece, China and Russia continues to remain strong, leading to strong prices overall.
The otter was withdrawn from this month’s sale, however, due to political problem in Asia.
But, Bewick says mink and marten prices remained strong.
He says Canadian prices for all of the pelts should be posted on the company’s website later today.
