The advantages of home ownership is expected to be a hot topic today at a northern housing conference in Prince Albert.

New North spokesman Al Loke says the two-day affair will showcase many of the initiatives and programs the Saskatchewan Housing Authority is currently exploring.

As well, Loke says officials from the group will detail what options are currently available to residents who are tired of renting.

However, he also hopes the delegates will come away from the session realizing that Sask Housing wants to move away from renting and focus more on home ownership.

Loke says representatives of the New North housing committee will also make presentations about what avenues they feel need to be looked at more closely.
