SaskPower Kept In Dark About Hall Lake Blackout

SaskPower says a prolonged power outage in Hall Lake is a classic example of why people shouldn’t assume authorities have been notified.
It’s believed a lightning strike blew a fuse in the community around midnight last night.
But SaskPower’s Larry Christie says crews at the utility didn’t get the word until around 9:30 this morning.
Crews have since been sent to the scene — although, it’s not clear when power might be restored.
Still, Christie says it could have been addressed much sooner had someone in Hall Lake bothered to call the utility’s power outage hotline.
Christie says SaskPower doesn’t have the technology to monitor the electricity situation of everyone in the province, so it relies on the hotline to get tips about power outages.
Incidentally, the toll-free number is 310-2220.
