Scott Decides Against Funding MNS

A spokesman for Metis interlocutor Andy Scott has confirmed that the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan will not be getting $1.2 million in funding it was originally supposed to receive.
Campbell Morrison says, like the provincial government, Scott wants to see a resolution to the current conflict regarding the Metis election before any funds are released to the MNS.
The money was going to pay for consultations and other follow-up research related to last year’s Supreme Court ruling on Metis hunting rights.
Morrison also says if the current impasse with the MNS continues, Scott may find alternate means to get the post-Powley initiatives in Saskatchewan done.
Morrison says options on the table include getting either the provincial government or the Metis National Council to conduct the post-Powley work.
