Two former Saskatoon police officers who had 17-year-old Neil Stonechild in their custody the night he froze to death on the city’s outskirts have lost an appeal of their dismissals.
Larry Hartwig and Bradley Senger have been found “unsuitable for police service”.
Hartwig and Senger were fired from the Saskatoon police force in November 2004 after a public inquiry concluded the pair had Stonechild in their cruiser the night he was last seen alive.
Stonechild was found frozen to death on the outskirts of the city five days after he vanished in January 1990.
There were marks on his body that inquiry commissioner David Wright decided were likely made by handcuffs.
